FmsConfig

MainType comes with a font management service configuration utility that allows you to make backups of the database and the vault. You can find it in Windows start menu, but for your convenience you can also access it through MainType’s main menu (Tools -> Create and Restore Backups).

 

We recommend making backups regularly; preferably not on the same hard disk.

Safe Mode

It is possible one or more corrupt fonts cause instability issues. MainType cannot always detect such fonts, so you might have to manually remove such fonts. If you can no longer use MainType because a corrupt font causes it to crash, you can use FmsConfig to enable Safe Mode. This mode will prohibit MainType from loading fonts. In this mode remove the corrupt fonts, and then disabled Safe Mode to get back to normal.
